Current medical reports indicate that endorphin levels are considerably higher in smokers than in non-smokers. When you stop smoking this results in a sudden drop in endorphin levels leading to withdrawal symptoms and cravings. Laser Therapy helps to balance endorphin levels, thus helping to control the addiction and pacify the cravings. It assists you to stop smoking - the all encompassing cravings are gone. Laser treatment is the application of a cold, non-evasive pain free laser beam to specific points of the body which stimulates and releases endorphins. This helps enable individuals to concentrate on lifestyle changes associated with becoming smoke free. Laser Treatment is a very relaxing experience, something you probably have not been promised in the past as you tried to stop smoking. The treatment is completely painless and in 20 minutes you can become smoke free! We use a low level laser (also known as a therapeutic or cold laser). It works along the same principle as acupuncture but of course, no needles. The points that we work on are on the ears (auricular points), nose, hands, wrist, and forearm (meridian points). It is a very relaxing and pleasant treatment. We work on three different areas with the treatment. First, we treat points for the addiction to nicotine, to help block your body's need for that drug; second, we treat diet points to help control your appetite and avoid excessive weight gain; and third we treat a lot of stress and relaxation points to help avoid the withdrawal symptoms that you would normally experience if you tried to stop smoking on your own, such as irritability, getting short tempered, etc. We try to take away all the negative feelings and make it a smooth transition for you as you stop smoking today! Facts About Your Cigarette
Nicotine is just one of the highly addictive chemicals found in tobacco products. The Tobacco industry strived to create a loyal customer base that would continue to purchase and smoke cigarettes, even at your own personal risk. The number of addictive chemicals found in a cigarette are staggering.
Most of these chemicals are banned for use in any other application. Makes you wonder how they've not been outlawed entirely.
There are over 4,000 additives that the tobacco industry is permitted to use in the manufacturing of a tobacco product in order to make the product taste better, preserve it for long-term shelf life and to keep you as a loyal customer.
First - Herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, fertilizers and other agricultural chemicals are routinely used in tobacco growing. The open air huts used in the drying of these chemically saturated tobacco leaves attract rodents, birds and insects, all of which end up in the shredders as they prepare the tobacco for shipment.
The paper used to wrap you cigarettes is soaked in a sugar solution. This creates your urges for a sugar fix - you receive the equivalent of one teaspoon of sugar per cigarette.
Some of the extra-added ingredients are as follows:
- Nicotine - as addictive to the brain as heroin
-
Ammonia (household cleaning agent) - causes nicotine to change forms - faster absorption occurs making nicotine even more addictive
- Theo bromine - opens the airways so smoke can reach the lungs faster - adds to the addictive feeling of needing that 'burn'
-
Acetone (nail polish remover) - increases uptake of nicotine into the bloodstream
-
Naphthalene (mothballs) - breaks down red blood cells
-
Methanol (rocket fuel) (anti-freeze)
-
Formaldehyde (which preserves the dead)
-
Phenol (disinfectant)
- Hydrogen cyanide
-
Metals (76 metals including arsenic, cadmium, nickel)
-
Radioactive compounds (polonium-210 and potassium-40)
-
Acetic acid
-
Toluene (industrial solvent)
-
Various pesticides that have been banned for use in the United States on all food products - but are permitted on tobacco leaves
Smokers can have up to 10 times the amount of carbon monoxide in their bloodstream than non-smokers.
Carbon monoxide is a poisonous gas that competes with oxygen in the blood. This same gas is found in car exhaust fumes.
Carbon monoxide binds to red blood cells, making it harder for the body to carry oxygen to the muscles and organs.
