Welcomes Mary
Introduction
My name is Mary and yes I am a senior. However, I really do not like being called a senior. I wish someone would come up with a better title. I like the term "Wellderly"
What's On My Mind...
I have a lot on my mind actually. I thank you for asking. Seems most folks nowadays don't want to ask what I think about much of anything.
I would like to say that I live in the present. I don't sit around and wish for the 'good 'ol days' however, I do miss the fact that younger people don't seem to care, care about what's on my mind or what's on any Wellderly persons' mind for that matter.
I am concerned about the news. I miss hearing the news from real honest news reporters. Seems now, being entertained by young thin pretty (girls and boys) is more important than reporting the facts.
What I would like to share about my family
I am 78 years old and my husband has been gone for some time now. He's still living, although it's hard for me to see him this way.
He has Alzheimer's Disease. I miss him. We raised four boys and we have six grandchildren. I am proud that all four of my boys are good husbands and very good fathers. My family means the world to me.
My Favorite Quote
Lately, I've been thinking about Psalms Chapter 72 Verse 9. It says, 'Do not cast me off in the time of old age; do not forsake me when my strength fails.'
But my favorite quote has to be "I love you sweet-pea". My husband used to say that to me all the time.
Words of Wisdom
Family is important. We mustn't forget that we were designed to be part of a community, part of a tribe, if you will. You are always connected to your family, which sometimes isn't easy.
But family is where you learn to love in a healthy way, and learn to hate and fight and learn to forgive and move on. If you can't do that with family, I'll bet you can't do that with anybody else.
My Favorite Recipe
Potato Soup My husband still loves this.
Peel (or not your choice) some potatoes and dice up. Dice up a couple of stalks of celery (be sure to use the leaves) Boil some water, use one cube of chicken bouillon for each cup of water. Throw the potatoes and celery in, turn the heat down to simmer. Sprinkle a little pinch of fresh (dried if you have to) rosemary.
Don't boil because the potatoes will fall apart. Cook till potatoes are soft, remove from heat.
Mix a little bit of soft butter with some cornstarch to make a paste. Mix that with some milk. Add that mixture to the soup. Stir easy, you don't want the potatoes to crumble up on you. Season with some pepper, but you won't need salt, there's plenty in the bouillon.
I don't have a url, not sure what that is? Hope this is okay. This has been fun. I'm glad I found this. My kids are going to be proud of me.
Yours truly, Mary
