Welcomes Joanne

Introduction

My name is Joanne. I am from southern Ohio and have just moved from the house we raised the children in to a small condo. Life is different now, who would've thought I'd be on a computer for heavens' sake.

What's On My Mind...

Yesterday, we enjoyed a sunny 60 degree day. Today, it's cloudy and cold, I think 30's. Still, spring is on my mind. I know our old house has crocus and tulips punching up from the ground. I will plant some bulbs here next year, but it won't be as many. I love to see flowers in the early spring popping up. It reminds me that after a good rest, anything is possible.

What I would like to share about my family

Change is not a bad thing. You can get yourself into trouble if you think you have to keep things the way they are. You need to, (as my granddaughter says) "Learn to go with the flow" I am learning that and she's right.

My Favorite Quote

I think it was Dean Martin (?) "I did it my way"

Words of Wisdom

Think before you speak. Be careful about what you write down. Talk less, listen more. Don't worry so much about how clean your house is.

My Favorite Recipe

I think your idea for a favorite recipe for food, or marriage or raising kids is a nice idea. Mine is a recipe for raising kids.

  1. Raise your girls and boys the same. Each ought to know how to clean, cook, iron and change the oil in the car.

  2. Raise your kids to be independent and interdependent

  3. Always remember that you are teaching an 'adult in training'.

  4. Encourage your girls to become well established women before they choose a mate. She ought to marry someone because she wants to, not because she has to.

  5. Encourage your boys the same way. When they marry, they ought to marry a friend, not a mother

  6. Love your children enough to say no.

  7. Trust them to do the right thing, eventually they will.

  8. Once they are married, learn to love their mates.

  9. Don't fix everything for your kids. You'll cripple them if you do. They must learn to address their own short-comings.

  10. Let your children explore possibilities. They ought to have the right to be who they were meant to be, not what you and your family have decided they must be.
