The Area Agencies on Aging are offices established through the Older Americans Act that serve to facilitate and support the development of programs to address the needs of older adults in a defined geographic region (see map) and support investment in their talents and interests.

IL Council on Aging is concerned with promoting the well-being of older people throughout the state. With 23 citizen members appointed by the Governor and 8 legislative members appointed by the General Assembly leadership, the Council makes recommendations to the Department on Aging, the Governor and the General Assembly regarding programs and services for older Illinoisans.
IL Coalition on Aging Illinois Coalition on Aging is a statewide membership association of organizations and individuals advocating with and on behalf of IL senior citizens for public policies that respond to the current and future needs of older adults and their families.
IL Nutrition Projects The IL Department on Aging provides this complete list of all participating sites offering congregate meals. This document also includes the phone numbers within county to request home delivered meals for those 60 and over that are homebound.
GovBenefits.gov helps IL citizens access government benefit eligibility information through a free, confidential, and easy-to-use online screening tool. Federal Verteran's Administration Offices The function of the Division of Veterans Affairs is to assist veterans and their families in the presentation, processing, proof and establishment of claims, privileges, rights and benefits as they may be entitled to under Federal, State or local laws
Legal Services through the IL Department on Aging The senior legal assistance provider offices, of which there are 21 around the state, provide legal services to Illinoisans 60 years of age or older. Legal assistance providers advocate for and represent older clients in civil cases.
Long Term Care Ombudsman Program protects and promotes the rights and quality of life for people who reside in long term care facilities (nursing homes). This is done through regional ombudsmen who have a hands–on working relationship with the residents and staff of the facilities within their program areas.
Illinois's Legal Aid On Line To increase access to justice for lower-income and vulnerable Illinois residents through the innovative use of technology to assist and educate the public and to train and support legal aid providers and pro bono attorneys.
Elder Abuse Prevention The program provides investigation, intervention and follow-up services to victims. Reports increase each year, as the older population grows and awareness of elder abuse increases. The program stresses the mentally competent older adult’s right to make their own decisions.
Local Chapters of the Alzheimer's Association The Alzheimer's Association - Greater Illinois Chapter serves 68 counties in Illinois with offices in Bloomington, Carterville, Chicago, Joliet, Rockford, Skokie and Springfield. We provide reliable information and care consultation; create supportive services for families; increase funding for dementia research; and influence public policy changes.
