Hospice

Search Site or Web

Hospice is a concept and not necessarily a location. Many people are surprised to learn that this form of care is carried out in your own home, if that is your choice.

If a person is living in an assisted living facility or nursing home or any other residence than home, this vital palliative care is also available. The entire care team will come to where you are.

There are a few Hospice Facilities available as well. At times, this may be a more comfortable choice for you.

A person that is terminally ill appreciates the emphasis of palliative rather than curative treatment. In other words, steps are taken to help a person remain comfortable, as free of pain as possible.

The entire care team concentrates on quality of life. Hospice affirms life and regards dying as a normal process.

When a person chooses palliative care, they are welcoming a team of caring professionals who will work hand in hand with the person dying and the family that must learn to accept the death.

Those who work within this profession are very special people. They will honor, to the best of their ability, your particular wishes and will offer emotional, spiritual and practical support - based on the patient's wishes and the family's needs.
