Successful businesses serving the elder population are willing to share their expertise and time to reach out to families during these tough economic times. As Barbara Mascio, founder of Senior Approved Services, said, The crisis of job loss, devalued homes and other investments, compounded by rising health care costs, affects every person in every community. Businesses and families have to find ways to stop focusing on the problems and come together to create solutions.
Solution-driven policies and ideas are driven by charity, community awareness, and creative critical thinking. As President Obama has said so many times, ... our collective challenges now require a new sense of shared responsibility from each of us in order to make long lasting and effective changes that will, in the end, improve all of our lives.
Take for instance Great Lakes Medical Supply, located in Michigan, which specializes in diabetes supplies. Great Lakes Medical Supply offers free education with the American Diabetes Association for individuals with diabetes (or are at risk), that includes: meal planning and portion size, exercise, complications of diabetes, important health tests, blood glucose testing and new technology updates. The education program has already served 2,900 people. Additionally, they offer free home delivery service, free refill reminders, and they include a free gift for every new customer.
Another good example of a successful business providing additional services within their community is Northcoast Conflict Solutions, located in Ohio, a family counseling and mediation service. Dr. John and Patti Bertschler, co-owners of Northcoast Conflict Solutions, readily share their expertise by helping families find solutions to the most troubling of circumstances through free articles that help families help themselves.
A home care service located in Illinois, HomeCare and More, Inc is now offering medication set-up & monitoring by an R.N. and free delivery with medication regime for their home care customers. They are also offering pet care and will feed and walk the dog for no extra charge.
Senior Approved Services, LLC, serving the United States, has created a free venue for employers to post jobs and has provided the opportunity for both families and professionals to submit articles highlighting solutions that they have found to be of value.
Understanding how important non-profit organizations have become to families in need, especially with lower donations and less federal subsidies, Quality Elder Care will assist these organizations by donating money to the non-profit and by conducting the necessary screening process to ensure that the non-profit is referring its senior clients to safe and reliable companies.
In addition to selling products that solve problems for people who have disabilities, seniors and caregivers, Dynamic Living Inc has built a library of free articles that address issues that we all face every day. Topics include traveling with a disability, wrapping holiday gifts when you have arthritis and caring for a parent from a distance.
The Parent Care Solution offers families of older adults timely solutions on care and financial issues that affect so many seniors and adult children. The free Daily Words of Inspiration is read by thousands of individuals each day.
Family Choice Home Care, serving communities in NJ and PA, is offering all seniors, whether they are clients of theirs or not, a free vial of life which includes a magnet to put on the refrigerator and a baggie with a form to fill out in case of emergency. They are also assisting seniors and their families with information on funding from the Veterans Administration.
The health and elder care industry often times receives negative press. Yes, there are problems but hopefully this short article will shine the light on the fact that there are businesses that do care about their elder clients, do care about the senior's family, and are dedicated to serving the community by sharing their time, expertise, and solutions.
