Search Site or Web

Each Certified Senior Approved Service adheres to a code of ethics in its daily operations. The ethical business practices of health and elder care-related services, resources, and products is proven through the successful completion of our ethic-based consumer-driven survey process.

In other words, we are not asking for a pledge or promise - ethical business practices of each business within our exclusive directory of resources, is currently in place and is attested to by the very clients this business currently serves.

The Health and Elder Care Corporate Social Responsibility and Code of Ethics

ethical care for our elderly seniorsEach Certified Senior Approved Service is pre-screened, in part, by a consumer-driven survey. The survey is mailed to a combination of current and past clients of each business applying for the certification as a Senior Approved Service.

The nature of the questions are designed to reveal the overall standard of ethical business practices, as perceived by the senior citizen client receiving the care and also by the family of the elderly person.

In order to successfully receive Certification as a Senior Approved Service each health and elder care business, resource, and/or product proves the following key elements of Social Responsibility by successfully completing our survey, which reveals:

Human Life is Precious

Each business proves that it serves each elderly client as an individual recognizing and addressing the unique needs and desires of each senior client.

Example: Businesses receiving the Senior Approved Certification are ones in which their clients feel valued – not just as a customer or as a bed number or as some other census quota.

Some of our most respected elder care businesses will receive comments on the survey such as; “She treats me like I was her own mother”, “I look forward to her visit, she helps keep me positive about life”, “She encourages me to continue to try”

Cause and Effect

Each business proves that the principle of cause and effect is understood and implemented through training, guidance, and supervision of each employee as he or she interacts with each individual senior client.

Simple good old-fashion manners implemented as company policy not only improves the environment for employees, it greatly enhances one-on-one interaction with the elderly. Making eye contact, speaking clearly, good listening skills, and conflict resolution with a positive state of mind.

Example: An elderly person with Alzheimer’s disease may become fixated and repetitive. An employee that becomes angry or agitated by this behavior (cause) will magnify this behavior in your client (effect)

An employee that learns how to ‘go with the flow’ and re-direct the senior client in a kind and caring way(cause), decreases this behavior (effect)

Trustworthiness

Each business proves honesty; including contract agreements, service and care expectations, scheduling, and safeguarding against all manners of fraud and abuse.

We expect the truth. We will not represent, recommend and endorse a business that embellishes the truth in an effort to ‘close the deal’. You must prove that what you promise – is exactly what you deliver.

Each health and eldercare business adheres to safe hiring practices. This simply means that all employees are screened properly with state authorities to eliminate the possibilty of hiring someone that has a history of theft, fraud, or abuse in any nature.

Respect

Each business proves that each elderly client is treated with respect and honors the senior as an elder with both a past and a future.

Our elderly are not widgets to be warehoused. Each has a past and many have an interesting and exciting past. Encouraging your seniors to share their life experiences in innovative ways not only enhances the quality of life of this senior, it enhances the quality our communities. When each individual person’s life is respected and honored, it encourages the continuation of giving of oneself.

Social Responsibility

Each business proves that it not only adheres to mandated rules and regulations governing the health and elder care industry – it surpasses the basic guidelines made evident by the senior citizen feeling that he or she is truly cared about and cared for.

The businesses successfully reaching the required 90 percent or higher through our survey/certification process are ones that are fiscally responsible and at the same time, are driven by the underlying intentions of providing the best possible care and service for our precious elderly population.
