The New Blues

Written by Barbara Halpern,
facilitator of Caring for Elderly Family Members

This is a little poem, I wrote to my son. He attended Stuyvesant High School not far from the World Trade Center. This was written after the first incident. I was so concerned until I was able to locate him, and get him home safely. My son was 17 years old, it was 12 years ago, the world is no more safe today, sorry to say.

The New Blues

Being brought up in the world today ...May make it hard to appreciate, The wonder of life and love.

Little things that count are big ...Big enough to fill a life with fulfillment

Don't let the negative news... Give you the Blues.

Listen to your heart ... Get involved in caring and being part of making a difference

These words I share, will help you become a man of compassion and caring.

Don't let the negative news ... Give you the Blues.

Giving of yourself is gratifying
Loving another is satisfying
Being part of the remedy is rectifying

Don't let the negative news ... Give you the Blues.
